Hahn, Dame Mitsuko Uchida, Professor Barry Marshall, Philip PullmanBRAC founder and Chairperson Fazle Hasan Abed was awarded a Doctor of Letters at Oxford's Encaenia, the most famous honorary degree ceremony in the UK, on June 24, 2009.
Dr. Abed (far right) with the other honorands (photo from Oxford University website)Dr. Abed received the award along with five other luminaries in diverse fields of work, including Professor Barry Marshall, winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize for Medicine, and author Philip Pullman whose trilogy 'His Dark Materials' is currently being adapted into film, with the first installment "The Golden Compass" having come out in 2007.
